I know if you have a problem with a business you will do your best to settle it between you and the business itself but if all else fails then you take it to the professionals. When you need someone on your side you can take it to a consumer complaints agency, such as the BBB or even a consumer lawyer. Most of the time the businesses themselves will try to settle any complaint without interference from a third-party but then you have a select few that will be stubborn and you will have to take it to someone that can help you, maybe through court or mediation. A lot of businesses really know if this goes to court or through mediation that it can ruin their name and the business world so most will try to work it out the before going to this type settlement. If you’re a single mom who’s decided to go to college or vocational school, it can be very helpful to find another single mom to team up with. You can offer each other moral support, exchange baby-sitting services, and even assist each other in locating and applying for financial aid. You’ll want to locate as much “free” money as possible, such as single mother grants and private scholarships. But don’t be disappointed if you have to apply for a loan as well to make up the shortfall. A combination of grants and loans is the usual way for the average student to pay for college. Juggling homework, child care, work, and household responsibilities will sometimes stretch you to your limits, so make a point of recruiting other people to take over once in a while. Dropping the kids off with a sitter for an afternoon can give you a much needed break for studying or just de-stressing.

Filing Bankruptcy to Get Rid of That Awful Debt

Author: admin - Categories: Personal Finance - Tags:

When the financial noose begins to tighten around your finances and after months of delay you finally have decided to look into declaring bankruptcy regardless of what your friends, neighbors and even family members tell you. However, if you weigh the facts versus the pernicious thoughts some try to plant in your head about how it will destroy what’s left of your financial life not to mention any future credit buying chances, perhaps you should use a bit of common sense and peek over the financial fence to actually see if there are rain clouds or sunshine. Bankruptcy is not the end of the world and if you play it right, you’ll find some blue skies and green lights when it’s over.

To declare bankruptcy via a Chapter 7 filing is not like a visit to the dentist. Maybe it used to be, but the advent of the computer, reading pertinent information and reviewing online paperwork, declaring bankruptcy is less painful than getting your drivers license renewed at the local DMV. You can opt to do your own paperwork or you can seek the expertise of an attorney who specializes in bankruptcy filings. Such paperwork, to the novice, can be intimidating if you’re not familar with state laws. If you wish to eschew the filing headache, an attorney is your best option. Most are listed in the yellow pages but be sure to talk with more than one attorney so you can be cognizant of the varied costs involved and whether staggered payments can be made.

Once your decision is made to file a Chapter 7 you will need to have all your financial information at your fingertips and I mean ALL of it. In most states Chapter 7 filings will allow complete discharge of your current debts which means most can be completely erased. Chapter 11 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy filings usually involve business dealings. Looking at the bright side of bankruptcy, once your debts are eliminated it will be easy to get a new, fresh start in establishing credit. With a clean slate new credit card offers will be plentiful.
